The Healing Waters
“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” — Matthew 14:27
The world feels like it’s spinning faster these days — doesn’t it?
So much movement, so much change. But here, in this sacred moment, we are invited to slow down. To step into the stillness. To enter the healing waters. Because even when the wave rises, God’s peace is deeper still.
Slowing Down to Listen
The pace of the world can shift the rhythm of our hearts. But in the quiet — in the God mind — we can rest and restore. Maybe lately you’ve felt like you’re on a roller coaster — the ups and downs of change, the twists of uncertainty. Or perhaps you’ve felt like you’re in a game of musical chairs, wondering if there’s a seat left for you. Those are the feelings of the world stage.
But here, in the sacred stillness, we remember:
God never pulls the chair away. There is always room for you. In this moment, we breathe. We take refuge in the presence of God. We return to mindfulness — to the healing power of awareness.
The Mindful Heart
In Unity Principle 3, we learn that our thoughts create our reality. So today, we pause to ask: What thoughts are shaping my world? What emotions am I carrying?
Are they my own, or did I borrow them from someone else? Mindfulness is the practice of noticing — of being aware before we speak, act, or react. It’s asking, “Am I being compassionate with myself? Do I trust myself? Have I forgiven myself?”
These are the deep questions that ripple through the healing waters.
Taking Refuge
In Buddhist teaching, mindfulness is called refuge — a sacred shelter for the soul. It’s where we seek wisdom, meditation, and protection from suffering. In Christianity, Jesus called it oneness with the Father.
He said, “I and the Father are one.”
Both paths lead to the same truth: In our connection with the Divine — whether you call it God, Spirit, or Cosmic Consciousness — we find freedom from suffering. In Unity, we honor that same trinity of being:
Body, Soul, and Spirit. The place where they meet is where healing begins.
Faith in Action
Jesus didn’t question whether healing was possible.
He simply knew it. He spoke with certainty, rooted in divine connection: “It is not I, but the Father within me who does the work.”
That same power lives within us. Through our indwelling spirit, God works — through our words, through our prayers, through our actions.
Our everyday actions are our most powerful prayers. Every conversation, every moment of kindness, every breath of gratitude — all of it is prayer in motion.
Transmuting the Storm
The story of Peter walking on water in Matthew 14 reminds us how easy it is to lose focus when the waves rise. He began in faith, stepped out in courage, but fear crept in — and he started to sink.
Yet in that moment of desperation, when he cried out, “Lord, save me,” Jesus immediately reached out and caught him. Fear distracts us. Faith restores us.
And when we lose balance, grace holds us steady.
Healing doesn’t always happen in calm waters —
Sometimes, it happens right in the middle of the storm.
From Belief to Faith
Mindfulness teaches us to transform our energy —
to transmute fear into courage, grief into peace,
shame into acceptance, and doubt into faith. This is the true work of healing: to trust the invisible force of Spirit moving through us—even when we can’t see the outcome.

Closing Prayer
God, thank you for the healing waters that calm our hearts and renew our spirits.Thank You for teaching us to take refuge in You —to find peace in the stillness and courage in the storm. May we remember this week that our thoughts create our world, our words shape our prayers, and our faith brings healing to all we touch.
We are one with You, always.
Amen.
