Releasing the Pain-Body
To overcome and change anything in ones life can be difficult! It is not an act of trying, it an act of “Letting Go” of what causes one suffering. I share this effective technique of releasing pain, through my own experiences in life. Having experienced emotional pain which was unbearable, directly impacted my physical well being. I found it necessary, that in order to move through adverse experiences, I would need to deal with the unresolved emotions that were tied to my thoughts and release them. Emotions I experienced, which triggered painful past traumatic experiences, were stored, overtime, into my physical being. I did not know over the years, but the stored unresolved emotional pain caused chronic physical pain for over 20 years of my life.
My mind would wander away from the present moment, due to the physical pain, and then, memories of the emotional trauma experienced from the past. It would take me to an unresolved place of suffering. The suffering is only brought to mind, when discomfort of today is due to living in past, unresolved trauma. This place, for me was the thinking part of me, the one that would reason, the could have been, should have been, or wished it would, logic of bringing my past. This became my practice of learning to accept the way things are, today, and plugging into the present moment.
We cannot change the situations of the past, but we can resolve them, within ourself. This is through acknowledgement of the painful experiences, and accepting that they did happen, which allows us to live in the current moment, in the here and now; Living in the Present.
I found, when I let go of thoughts associated with past traumas, it is not a matter of denying my emotions, or that they even existed. It is an acknowledgement of them, as to allow my body to process and release the physical pain caused from the emotions of sadness from loss, grief or betrayal. It is only then, with resolution, that I can create the ability to align my body-mind connection.
It wasn’t enough for me to “let go” of a painful past, because the thinking part of me in which triggered emotional memories from past events still took place. It was in the unresolve, or unwillingness to move on from those emotions, and carrying them forward, with me, which transmuted the emotional pain into my body. This is called emotional memory of past trauma stored in the body.
Back in 2018, I studied Eckhart Tolle work in The Power of Now and learned how to release unresolved emotions from my physical body. Those which we do not resolve or complete, or release end up being deferred pain, stored in the very cells in which our body, and create the memory. Eckhart Tolle refers to this “physical storage of pain” as the Pain Body; unresolved emotions of the past, stored in the body, causing physical pain in the present.
I understood this concept from my mother, who lived a life of pain, in which I would work to bring solutions for her physical pain, all of which were never satisfactory options for her. Her refusal to remedy and heal physically, was directly correlated with that of holding on tightly to her emotional pain of her past, that which Eckhart Tolle mentions, is the pain body. Other self-help books refer to as “baggage”
The pain I carried in my body, for decades, had stored up for so long, due to the fact that I had not come to terms with the sadness caused by the past, which needed resolution and acceptance, not only in my mind, but in my body. Physically, I needed to release the hurt, and the past emotions I had carried for so long, so they wouldn’t continue to cause physical pain. The realization, was, I thought I had processed the pain…. I thought I had let it go.. But yet, another layer was uncovered, which I did not know, and that was taking on other peoples pain. Pain that my loved ones deferred, in which I felt, I had taken on as my own. I never realized that was what caused the physical pain. I had continued to carry my parents, my children’s, my children’s fathers, and my siblings emotional garbage, which I energetically took on, as my own. It was with me, as physical pain, a physical pain body.
During this wake-up call, and process of physically releasing & ridding the pain-body of stored emotions, I learned the most important element of my daily life, one which, saved my life. It is in the daily practice of meditation & positive affirmation work. Coming back to living in the presence.
I found this, not only a beneficial part of my life, but essential for my well being, health and healing. It was through this practice, that I removed the pain-body, and became pain-free. The chronic pain, that kept me going to the chiropractor for 20 years, ceased to exist. I had healed, by releasing the emotional pain, which was not even mine. It was familial pain.
During meditation, I practice climbing more into my breath through mindfulness & awareness of my breathing, by slowing it, focusing on it, consciously recognizing the depth of my breath, and the power of my breath, then breathing out, creating a very mindful practice. It is a process we take for granted and oftentimes don’t stop to think how each breath gives us an opportunity to bring in a new life and healing for us, in each moment.
This meditational practice also allows one to bring awareness back to the body, to recognize where in the physical body the experience of emotional pain is stored. Tap into the mind and correlate, where the pain is and what emotion or experience cause the pain? It is in the practice of meditation which slows the thinking function within us. Meditation allows for resting the body and heart into the present moment, allowing inner peace & full awareness of the now moment. Humans are granted this choice of focus, at any given point in time. Such is a blessing.
Full awareness, always starts with focus on the breath. Through our breath, we connect with Spirit, the breath of life. And through Spirit, we connect with God, the Universe, the Creator, who aspires to support us during these times of Letting Go, letting go of that which no longer serves us.
I do know first hand, life’s struggles which can feel overwhelming at times, but having a process to focus on release and let go, provides a daily practice to access healing, rejuvenation and peace within our body and our mind. Peace required to live a purposeful productive day without suffering.
It is within my wholeness of being and through my breath… I am Connecting with Spirit…. and the Oneness with the Divine Presence…of All that is…..
Life begins, when we are fully present in the moment, living without suffering and focusing on the gifts of goodness provided to in the moment, in the precious present.
As part of my practice, I give thanks everyday for the ability to restore, regenerate and heal, my mind, my body and my spirit. It is my sincere hope and wish that others will find this healing process beneficial in their lives too.
Acceptance of our complete self, the body-mind connection with our heart &soul. This is the integration of our Wholeness. Honoring all aspects of the self.
